International Travel

As of February 17, 2022, attendees must comply with the following requirements to enter the United States:
- Be fully vaccinated to travel to the U.S. by plane and provide proof of vaccination prior to boarding. Please see the list of accepted vaccines approved/authorized by the FDA or World Health Organization.
- Required to show a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 when you travel to the U.S. by air. Check with your airline for the latest requirements.
- Masks are required indoors on public transportation (including airplanes) and indoors in U.S. transportation hubs (including airports).
Letter of Invitation
You will receive an invitation upon registering for the conference. If you need a Letter of Invitation before you register for the conference, please complete the Request for Invitation Letter or send a request to the International Relations Office at [email protected]. Please include your full employment information and mailing address. The official ALA Letter of Invitation will be used to facilitate the processing of any visas or documents needed for you to attend the conference. ALA, however, is unable to provide financial support for your participation.
Travel Visa Requirements
Attendees who require an entry visa to visit the United States must allow sufficient time for the application procedure. Visa requirements often change and vary by country, so be sure to visit the U.S. State Department website for the latest information when planning your trip.
